I’ve been fortunate to wander far beyond the places I once imagined I’d see. Photography has never been my primary medium, but every so often the world offers a moment too extraordinary to leave behind. These images are my attempt to honor those fleeting intersections of light, landscape, culture, and humanity—brief moments of still-life splendor that reminded me just how astonishing this planet can be.

"Hawking"
This photograph was taken from the back seat of a trotro on the busy streets of Hohoe, Ghana. The women, men and children in this jungle-adjacent metropolis take to the streets before the sun comes up each day with whatever they can score and flip. From ice cold water sachets (how they keep them cold is a mystery) to hair products and phone chargers. Ghana's pot-hole laden streets are flooded with hard working people willing to do what it takes to provide for themselves and their families in the most challenging conditions. A tro-tro ride was always a dreary, hot, sweaty, smoggy experience for me and I was humbled by the strength of every day people making it work.
Taxi
This photograph was taken on our weekly taxi ride from Wli waterfall, where Safo and I have a beautiful jungle home used to host his volunteers and friends, to Hohoe market to get food. We buy rice, beans, veggies, fruits and anything the guesthouse needs. The groceries from the market usually end up in bags on our heads for the mile walk from the taxi stop to the kitchen. Each one packed to the brim and weighing as much as my neck could handle. The stronger I got, the more rice we'd have. I enjoyed helping gather materials to support our kitchen, but the walk through he jungle balancing on bamboo poles over the trickling streams was a challange for me.
